What we could do for the community is keep the factory core nylon plugged portion including the shaft all the way from the top steering wheel threads down to just before the u-joint, cut out the u-joint and machine the new end or weld on a new spline to accept a replaceable u-joint. We could even get rid of the rubber bushing and go with newer technology integrated vibration absorbing u-joints. You would also keep the bottom end of the shaft for connection to the rack. I wonder how much demand there would be for a product like this?
