| I bought a used 104k mile USDM TT engine from a reputable guy. compression test came out well and I can tell he took great care of the engine - the exterior is super clean and just about every gasket is new. Timing belt components are all new too. Before I drop this into my Z, I've been tossing around the idea of changing out the rod bearings first. Seems like cheap insurance ($50) and I've rebuilt diesel engines that were fully disassembled, just never an engine with the head still on. I know how to use plastigauge and own all Snap-On tools including a torque wrench. My concern is whether there's ample clearance for a proper install and whether I'm putting anything else at risk that I'm not thinking of. Oil pan already has to come off anyways to get the oil cooler line nipple welded shut (going full-flow instead). Anyone with experience care to share their opinion?
