Hey there, Just went through an amazing amount of tests with my n/a 1991, that had a hesitation. Started slowly and only intermittently about two months ago, so I assumed electrical somewhere since it was intermittent. I tested every sensor I could, checker for air leaks, have the new ptu, ran engine codes and nothing. Eventually it slowly got worse to the point it would idle fine, but if I drove it it would hesitate within 5 minutes, usually when warm. I replaced the coolant temp sensor since its reading seemed a bit off and its only 20 bucks. Seemed to help briefly but I think that was just my imagination. All along the one thing I didn't do was go by a mechanical oil pressure gauge for 12 bucks and hook it into fuel line before and after fuel filter. Turned out my hesitation was lack of fuel pressure. Filter was replaced and same problem. After that I bypassed the fpcu and it actually made my pump worse which I suspected meant that since it was not being controlled and being told to run full, essentially killed it if it was weak already. Long story short, I picked up a new pump and problem seemingly gone. Just did this yesterday so we'll see how it goes but I would definitely hook up a gauge and test the pressure just so you know.
