Message I have a 1990 300zx TT AT that will randomly have an issue where the key doesn't turn over the starter. Sometimes the problem will last for a day, and sometimes, like today it will do this for only an hour. I've replaced the starter relay about a month ago when this issue first occurred and it seemed to correct to problem, or so I thought. When I turn the key over I am getting power because the fuel pump engages and my dash lights come on etc. etc. But when I go to crank it, everything goes dark. No click. Nothing. Complete silence. The starter solenoid doesn't seem to be connecting, although after letting it sit for an hour in a parking lot today and debating on calling a tow truck I figured I'd give it a shot and try to crank it again. Mind you I had been driving it fine all the way to the gas station which I broke down at just after pumping some gas. The car was turned off for all of 5 minutes during my time pumping the gas, and wouldn't crank immediately after. After letting it sit for about an hour, it cranked up just fine after the first attempt. No issues what so ever. I've had the starter replaced before but this was a few years ago to my knowledge, and my mechanic doesn't believe the solenoid is bad due to the car cranking the second go round. I'm truly at a loss for what could be causing this blank time period in which the car decides not to respond to the turn over, only to work fine a little bit later. It's quite odd. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated because at this point I'm lost with what could be causing this problem.
