I'm in the market for new wheels and have been reading old posts on wheel sizing. New wheels come in a variety of offsets that are not necessarily the same as the wheels I am replacing. Because of this, I have been trying to learn about these matters in order to get wheels with a proper fit. Given the length of time required to receive an order from Japan, an error in specs would be very costly. The quantities, front and back spacing, are calculated from the relationship between the bolt flange surface and the OVERALL wheel width, NOT the "wheel width" (the distance between bead surfaces). Several old posts make reference to wheel width e.g., 8", 8.5", 9" etc., and state FS and BS using these values. I am glad I discovered this and made corrections to the values posted. The overall wheel width can be as much as an inch more than the wheel width. My front SSR GT-1s (18 x ?) are 230 mm wide, overall. That is 9 inches. The wheel width is 8 or 8.5. Still looking for that answer.
