There are lots of things going on inside the tranny.. Few Questions First.. 1) how has it been shifting? 2) How has it been sounding? Its really nothing you can do from the outside to fix it IF its not the Shifter proper.. What I mean is.. 1) if the Linkage has the respective gears in the neutral position ( so they are not fighting the internal gates ) 2) you are having problems getting it into/out of gear with the rear wheels off the ground and slightly turning 3) Then it's LIKELY the Shift Fork or Slide Gate or the Gear Detents are having some issues that need to be addressed INTERNALLY.. You can change the Tranny Fluid, but it will act the same afterward.. and all the Krap that will likely flow out with the Oil will distress you.. Case in Point.. my 92NA Parts car.. I changed the tranny fluid on it after I got it running.. One of the Detent Locks and the back up rung came out with the oil.. OH I was distressed.. chose to not rebuild it and see how it drove ( heck.. it only the parts car ) .. that was about 10K miles ago.. 4th is a little ruff to get into gear when cold.. Just learn to shift!.. As for your problem.. VERIFY that the other shifting levers are not holding against the Neutral gate.. if you can not free ip 5th gear.. Rebuild time.. 2$K.. Junk yards are selling trannys for $400.. you can take a chance.. Cj
