Message So I havent driven my Z in a long time and heres why. I set off a chain reaction of bad things when I did something very stupid and drove the car without any power steering fluid for a day.

Here is what happened:

After sitting for the winter a cap blew off my PS tank that capped off the HICAS lines because I deleted my HICAS.

I thought it would be ok to drive to work and back that day with no power steering fluid. That night I filled it up with PS fluid and continued driving it.

One day soon after, a lot of stuff went bad. I heard a clicking noise coming from my power steering pump. I started to lose power steering and I figured it was the side effects of running the pump without fluid. Eventually the power steering went out. So I knew the pump was gone. I continued driving and the car started overheating. Not like sitting in traffic and slowly climbing... no, it was totally overheating and I had to pull over and stop. It didnt matter how fast I went either, it wouldnt cool off.

So I pulled over and popped the hood and one of my heater core hoses at the back of the block was starting to leak from the heat. I let the car cool off for about 45 minutes then tried to drive it again. It immediately overheated again (and since this was Texas in the summertime I left it there and went and had some mexican food and beer thinking I could drive it home later when it was cooler outside.

So a couple hours passed and I tried driving it again, on the interstate this time, and before I could even get up to 75mph, it was overheating and I had to pull over, shut it off and coast, really.

I left it in some ghetto hotel parking lot overnight and picked it up the next day on a trailer.

The first thing I noticed when loading and unloading it was a weird clicking noise when I turned it on but it could have just been the power steering or the lifters or something.

But what I did realize is that both belts were off the pulleys!!! The main and accessory belts were just hanging in the front of the engine area!!!!! Yes, the timing belt!!!!

Did I do any long term internal damage driving my car in this way? The day it happened it seemed to be running OK internally other than the overheating, even after the belts apparently jumped off due to the PS pump failing.

I have been sick to my stomach to look or even think about what needs to be done to return it to driving condition, not to mention the condition of the motor now that I drove it (for about 5 miles) without a timing belt and accessory belt.

Obviously I need to do a timing belt job at the same time I do a PS pump job but is that it? Is there anything extra I need to do in my situation? I am afraid the cam timing is all outta whack and stuff. Seems like something way out of my league. Not to mention potential damage to internal components?

I'm just looking for a veteran, a pro, a guru, etc to point me in the right few directions as well as let me know what kind of internal damage to expect, if any, and of course offer input and advice on getting the specific jobs done.

Thanks for your time and I put my future course of action in your hands. I trust yall to give me the knowledge that you always do. That I always seem to come begging for....
