Have you resolved this issue yet Eric? As I had stated on the phone and via PMs I had a feeling you'd have an issue with valve height. You can alter the lifter but the best way is to tip the valve but proves a huge pain considering the engine is together at this point. If you modify the lifter I'd suggest measuring the lifter before tearing the lifter apart and having your local machine shop mill the face of the bucket that contacts the valve or get some fine grit sand paper and lube it with oil and run the contact point in a figure 8 motion over the sand paper to remove some of the material. Put the lifter together and measure the total height again. note your difference in height and go from there. Its tedious but could prevent you having to tear the engine down. All this obviously is doable bearing in mind that whoever valve jobbed the heads didn't sink the valve job so much that you can't get it back into speak without having to tear the heads down to tip the valve(s) Good luck
