Message connecting wire running to the wheel hub can break due to up/down movement over many years. Sensor + harness come together - plug and play. The broken wire causes the ABS error light to come and go - mine did it when making right turns (go figure)....

I put one used sensor from a parts car on my driver side front - ran me maybe $50? Here's one on eBay: [ http://compare.ebay.com/like/171112610773?var=lv ]Not sure what new ones cost? Takes maybe 1 hour to replace it, wheel off, undo old one install new one. Pretty easy job. I would guess the wire harness could be repaired too?

PS - Just a guess on the issue. In the factory manual (found on-line) there's a way to dump ABS codes to figure out the issue. See the FAQ section of this site too - pretty sure the link is there.
