going to replace the gasket ASAP, but I'm curious as to how the "un-metered" air has been affecting my performance. I haven't been experiencing any high idle symptoms, but after initial start up and the engine warms up, it will begin "hunting" with the rpms going up and down between 500 and 900. Tail pipes are showing a "rich" (black sooty) condition. This has been going on for a few months and when I finally did a boost leak test, I was shocked at the amount of air I found leaking next to the number 1 runner. Also, this wasn't a result of me replacing the injectors last year, because there was no idle problems until just a few months ago. Can a manifold intake gasket suddenly start leaking for no apparent reason? School me up.
