Message	Starter is the same, but the ring gear on the flexplate is made to line up with auto trans, not manual. Even the TT and NA are a tiny bit different. 99% that is your problem. Bolt on the corresponding flywheel instead of the flexplate and you should do much better. Keep in mind your compression is going to be a little lower b/c engine is not warm.
