| I would suggest pulling the tray and take care of any rust under the tray so you don't end up with a bigger problem. I had to do the same thing after a cheap battery leaked. Its not too hard to remove. There are several bolts and some spot welds. Use a spot weld cutting tool or a large drill bit. You don't need to drill all the way through, just enough to free the tray. Bondo is a no go. Unless there is a hole I would just clean it up with a wire brush and spray it with rust converter before painting.
