| :Is there any reason to put these bolts back on? sure...prevent oil leaks :They're small enough to not have any effect on sealing. I'm thinking they were put on at the factory to keep the head from falling off during transit between stages of assembly. I think your assumptions are incorrect :I left them out to allow me to skip a few steps when I take the motor apart in the future (being able to leave the timing gears and backplate on the DS) I hope you don't end up with a leak.
