Message	Problem with carbide is that it is brittle, so in a hand-held drill, it might break. I'd try it. I'd try a grinding bit rather than a drill bit, because multiple smaller teeth might be better in this case. EDM, if possible, is the way a shop would get that out. Got a picture? It might spark someone's imagination for a fix.
