Message I have some knocking sound on first gear. It have solved a similar problem 6 years ago by replacing carrier bearing. DS installer told me used one still good based on rubber condition being not broken or partly delaminated from frame but bearing is out of center in free state, closer to bracket side. When installed, I can move DS up & down with a hand push or pull in vertical direction.

Problem came back now and I have noticed bearing is sagging exactly same as old one. A Nissan mechanic told me when it's install upside down, the DF weight will place it back on center. But looking to an ebay picture of new one, bearing is centered in free state, as well as one used with low mileage for sale

Read some posts on this subject, most say rubber come dry with exhaust heat (more with after marrket without heatshield.

Is it possible that a rear wheel jumping (maybe due to diffy bushings worn out) when car is launch on first gear, will damage DS carrier bearing rubber to become excentric ?

Universal joints on DS and rear shaft connected to diffy aren't showing any abnormal play of excessive wear.

Is someone can confirm me that a sagged bearing to bracket side, mean rubber was abused to be out of center when look at it off the car, which cause the repetitive sound knocking on 1st gear, normally driven without any heavy launch ?
