| Keeping catalytic converters - or swapping in high-flow catalytic converters - will do the most to reduce drone, but then you're trading away some horsepower. If you don't want catalytic converters, then installing larger resonators would be the next most effective measure (assuming you're not willing to do something drastic, like installing smaller pipes, which would do even more than using catalytic converters). If you don't want to change any of your exhaust components, then consider wrapping the pipes with something like ThermoTec. Wrap them thick, and coat the wrap with high temperature paint. This only applies if you've got a stainless steel exhaust system. If you've got aluminized pipes, wrapping them will speed their corrosion. Finally, you could mask the drone by insulating (sound-proofing) your car's floor and rear hatch -- not just with Dynamat (or its equivalent), but with a layer of mass loaded vinyl and a foam decoupler as well. ...But then you're adding weight. Ultimately, you need to decide where you want to end up on the comfort : speed continuum. You have to be willing to trade off some of one to achieve the other.
