Message I am hoping someone can give me some tips or advice on this. Both driver and passenger front tie rod lock nuts are seized and do not turn. I am trying to change out the steering rack boots and need to loosen these nuts.

I am putting a 19mm open wrench on the outer tie rod itself and a 7/8" (do not have a wrench in metric that can fit this nut, I am assuming it's a 21mm nut). I cannot break the nut loose if my life depends on it.

I am wondering if I need to put a 13mm wrench on the inner tie rod and then break the lock nut loose?

I do not have access to acetylene torch so I cannot get the nut glowing red hot, however, I do have a propane torch that I can use to heat the nut up. However, I am not sure if this will damage the nut or any surrounding components (definitely do not want to damage my new coilovers).

Furthermore, can someone tell me if the nuts are reverse thread or are they the conventional right/tight and left/loose?

Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have nightmares about that happening...I'd be the poor bastard you'd hear about on the news that gets killed by a softball-size chunk while spreading out my body over the hood and screaming "Nooo!" (Having a conversation about hail damage) - BradZ (FL) on March 25, 2005 at 9:56 PM

Tell your friend that you could take a dump, light it on fire and that would be hotter shit than his car. Probes suck, that's just all there is to it. - 300ZXpert (someday) on April 04, 2005 at 11:35 PM
