Message high idle and fuel smell sounds like classic symptoms of ecu temp sender unit issues.
first try cleaning the connectors (the two prong one) and also check for fuel leaks around the fuel rail.
regular problem areas are the front near the throttle bodies, try and tighten up the cips and also the hoses to the fuel regulators.
another possible problem area is the injectors. they will take more work if that is where the problem is.

as for the leak on the intercooler you can make or buy a plug to pressurize the induction system.
