Message Im replacing the Drivers side rear hub/bearing assembly on a 92 NA 180K Miles on the Car. Upon removing the hub/Bearing assembly from the Backing Plate, Suspension Unit, I noticed the Axle does not seal to the Frame Unit..

Here is a Pic of the General Area Im working on..

And here is the Closer Shot of the Parts Involved..

Now for the somewhat assemblied view of the problem..

As you can see, the axle 'Hub' is smaller than the Seal it's running in.. The Axle Hub is 58MM, and the Id of the seal is 63MM.. The Seal was covered in 'Road Grime' all around, and so was the hub ( Seal was not touching the Hub Projection on the Axle ). It looks like it has the Wrong Axle running in the seal?.. is this possable?..

Here is the Shot of the assembled Hob/Bearing Assembly..

this is a New Nissan bearing assembly with hub, and I pressed the Old Rotor into it.. the assembly has seals on both sides ( Behind the Metal rings) as did the Hub Assembly I pulled out.. So the bearings were only protected by ONE seal rather than the Two that it looks like was anticipated..

Nothing in the back of the car 'Looks Wrong'.. ( if thats possable ).. Purchased the car from a second owner.. ALL the papers of the first owner Repairs and Mods ( suspension Stuff ) came with it.. second owner just beat the living $h!t out of the car and I got it running on 5 Cylinders with a blown Clutch. it came to me on a flat bed..

Any Insiget as to what is going on here?..

Thanks..

Cj
