Message From what you describe, your spot welded seams for the side rocker panels and the floor have been bent flat against the floor in spots. This damage occurs when someone uses a jack to raise the car on the seam, or slams too quickly over speed bumps.

You can use the 2x4 plus a hammer method, but you stand a chance of deforming the seam even more by over hitting it.

I believe a better method would be to buy a special vice grip used by welders and body men. It looks like the standard vice grip but has heavy steel blades about 3 inches wide, instead of the regular toothed jaws. They are often used for just this purpose on light gauge steel.

Once clamped over a section of the bent seam you can simply bend the seam back to its 90 degree angle.

As with any bending of sheet steel, too much bending back and forth may cause a stress crack and shear the seam off. Be careful. Good Luck!
