Message is the common name to the part that holds the steering, strut (or shock absorber/spring) and stub axle. In most cars, where the part is iron (tis Al in the Z), the spindle, a monolithic casting, replaces the stub axle.

The "tie rod" that attaches to the knckle (lower picture), has a conical shaft. It glues itself well to the knuckle. In iron parts smacking it sideways (not on the shaft) will remove it. This IS NOT the way to remove it in an aluminum knuckle car. Get a tool to push it out gently or you will mangle the knuckle .
