| between the pullies you need to check that the crank and camshafts are in sync. To do this place #1 Piston at TDC on the compression stroke(both intake and exhaust valves are closed) then look at the index marks on the crank sprocket and cam sprokects, they should line up with the marks on the engine as shown here [ [ http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=em&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=17&design=default&total=70 ] ] When the belt is correctly installed the engine marks line up with the crank sprocket and cam gear index marks. This happens every other revolution only at the compression stroke regardless of the belt index marks which are only used for the initial install to get the teeth count right and the timing marks lined up when the #1 piston is at TDC. The belt index marks very rarely will line up again (as initially installed) once the engine is started so Do Not use them to check for proper timing alignment of the crank and the cams.
