I just installed a used TPS today. After hours if screwing with it and getting 2000 rpm, the procedure that worked was. 1. get the .5 from TPS. 2. turn off the car. -->Disconnect the TPS<-- (I did both connectors). 3. start the car, I let it run for a bit then plugged in the TPS connectors. 4. adjusted the idle screw back there by the IAC piping. Got it down to 700 rpm or so. Then plugged in my IAV (yellow connector) and the damn thing actually idled correctly. So that ECU has to see the TPS not plugged in after adjustment. This was the only way I could get the car to idle below 1000rpm. Prior to disconnecting the TPS for a bit, I messed with the idle screw (like you did) and it would not drop the idle.
