1. I didn't check the very basics first. It was a loose injector connector that was just barely not clicked on(95 harness). So I think the cylinder was just barely firing or firing steadily out of time. Like I said, the idle was steady but it just didn't sound/feel right.
2. I didn't interpret my conzult's power balance test results correctly. Different cylinders were failing each time, but the #1 was failing every time. I only realized this after thinking back to it.
Purring again now... I'll leave this up in case it helps anyone else someday.
