Subject	clunking noise upon acceleration

Message	I have just developed a clunking noise when I accelerate from a stop. It is a very loud clunking and seems to be coming from underneath the car between the driver and passenger seats. The weird thing is it only lasts through first gear and gets better as the speed of the car increases. Any thoughts as to what it could be.
