Message I just failed my smog check here in CA because my NO2 readings were crazy high (from the 200s last smog check to 2000s). I just got my 1991Ztt repaired( new timimg belts, thermostat, water pump,) and new battery. When I got the Z back it felt really good( Ive had the z for 13years and never failed a smog check). The car didnt run as good as this in 3 to 4 years so i was confident i would pass. The only thing I noticed that was odd was the high rpm(1200) and when i push the gas it revs really fast. I read somewhere that if the timing belt is not adjusted correctly it can have elavated emission outputs and high idling. Is this true? If so could this be the problem why the NO(PPM) readings were ridiculously high. Everthing else was normal(CO2, O2, HC, CO). Thank you and sorry for the long post.
