How are you reading the boost, is it the stock gauge? If so, you can disregard that reading as its not accurate. Buy an aftermarket boost gauge. Then you need to check what tune the car is running. To do that you need to physically look at the ECU. Its located under the floor board on the passenger side. If its an aftermarket one like JWT, ASH, Z1 or Specialty Z you will find a sticker either on the outside of the ECU or on the Eprom chip on the inside. If your car has an aftermarket ECU, you should be OK up to 15 psi. However, if it is a stock ECU, 14 psi is dangerous and will most likely destroy your engine if sustained for too long.
