| :A side note...if you have a steel punch or etching pen...it would be a good idea to go ahead and number the cam caps after you have them all installed correctly. Helps in the future. On all of our builds we have the heads and cam caps punched in two ways so there is no way to mix them up.
You can see here the caps are marked E5, E4,...down to E1. So it is easy to identify which cap goes where. Well at least if you can count to 5...lol. The head is also marked to match the front cam cap which is easily identifiable, so the 5 on the head matches the 5 on the front cap and the direction it should be facing. So no way to flip the other caps the wrong direction since the E and number should all face the same way.
Then they are also punched with 2 dots on the head and all the caps to indicate head #2. On the #1 head the front cam caps start with #1 and go back to the #5 cap at the back of the head. With 1 single punch on each one. So it is very easy to figure them out. Also you will not the number on the head. In this case it is 312.
This is also done on the crank, block, and girdle. This is done so that we know what build is what. Each one gets a number that matches a complete build sheet that we provide the the machine shop with a complete list of parts to be used, build specs, etc. Each part that we provide is also marked with our shop name, customer name, and build number so there is no confusion in parts.
