My advice would be to go ahead and try it without removing the trans. Just make sure to use a lot of PB blaster a day or two before hand and use a good seat of tools. Worst case scenario is you have to remove the trans if you get stuck. 2. 3 in is great, 2.5 is good. Depending on other mods or goals, 2.5 is usually sufficient for most people, however if you ever plan to really mod the car, you might as well do it once and do it big. 3. No, they will not cause a CEL on a 1990. The oxygen sensor will screw into them. 4. Z1's 2.5 test pipes are cheaply made with thin metals, poor welds, and hit or miss fitment. Thats why they are so cheap compared to ones like Specialty Z. Some people buy them and are satisfied for a long time, some buy them and hate them instantly.
