the fuel pump wires are easy to trace on our cars, so it wouldn't be hard to track down a short with a multimeter if there was one. It runs from the ecu through your firewall to the fuse block on the ds corner, to your ds foot well to the fpc to the pump. I would not recommend wiring a signal directly to the pump as it could cause the pump to fail prematurely. I have several spare FPCs if you need a good used one.
