Message here on average every six months. Notwithstanding the FSM data, almost every member uses the same method. We add four (4) quarts, and then use the dipstick to finalize the fill. Minor variations depend on oil filter size, oil cooler capacities, resting angle of the oil pan, how long it drains, and the viscosity of the draining oil, etc. But almost every engine requires four quarts plus a little more. If you are way off, double check that you have the correct dipstick and/or that you didn't confuse liters with quarts. ;-0
