| Here's a link to my post DIY manual transmission disassembly/assembly is definitely not easy - if you have all the tools, read the FSM thoroughly and give yourself a weekend to disassemble the transmission entirely... and another weekend to put it back together. You will need a hydraulic press, various size bearing pullers, a good gear puller assembly, a couple different sizes of pipe to use as drifts and a large hammer. It took me about a month to get all the tools modified or outight fabricated so I could pull the trans apart easily. In order to get "upgraded synchros", like the 98+ transmission, you will need to replace the entire gearset (1st and 2nd or 3rd and 4th) and their respective slider. Honestly, if you were going to go this route a new transmission would be a cheaper way to go when you consider it comes with all new everything.
