Message	pipe right next to the stock one, then tapped it and used a bit of teflon tape, silicon works too. I am using an ebay sandwich adapter, it works fine, but I am planning on replacing it with a name brand thermostatic switch so I can delete my external one. There are also good brands that make the adapters as well if you don't want to go with ebay.
