Message	freeplay. I went through the same issue you are now going through. After a complete rebuild/new replacement, including trans, from flywheel to rear axles, I have a backlash of 1/2" at the tire. IMO, what you are feeling, is caused by a timing issue, not the freeplay or slop in the driveline.
