| nightmare... I assume when you say "turn on" you mean the started turns the engine but the engine won't start. not positive on this but from what you've said there could be a few issues.. 1 - it may have sucked up crap or water from the bottom of the tank...(yeah I know there is a plastic tub around the pump intake that is supposed to stop that but you never know)
2 - it may have an air bubble somewhere in the fuel line.
3 - it may be flooded. you could try taking the hose off the filter (be careful it could be under pressure) and putting a bit of hose on it and into a container (you'll need someone to help), turn the ignition to the on position,(don't start it), the pump should try and pressurize the fuel rail. if there is crap coming though the filter you should see it. you could also try pulling the fuel pump fuse (near the firewall) and then try and start the car (a few times).
that should clean out the cylinders of excess fuel, put the fuse back in and see if it starts then.
