This device was fitted to 1994 and later models that operated with 134a refrigerant. There is not TCV in those cars, just an expansion valve. The TCA began to malfunction in my car turning the system on a "clucth cycler" and thus reducing cooling significantly. I snipped the signal wire from the TCA to the ECU (its signal, +12VDC, causes the ECU to cut power to the compressor clutch magnet). Doing this causes the evaporator to freeze under conditions of relative cool outside. Since the a/c is automatic, it will go on even if the ambient temp is 55F, when the sun heats the balck interior.
