My fan clutch just died, so I swapped it with a spare I had and to my surprise, I had an NA one in there probably since i've owned the car (5+ years). I never had any overheating problems at all. When I look at some old datascan logs, the temp was always around 178*F. Since changing, the car has an awesome smooth purring idle. Don't know if the fan clutch would cause the engine to run crappy vs awesome, or possibly the cold weather we've been having here lately.
