Message Hey guys, my question is what is the best way to determine if a blown turbo is causing oil to be in the exhaust without pulling and swapping the turbos? Can this be done? I have already searched this alot.

Heres the scenerio. I have oil (blueish) smoke out of the exhaust that is pretty eratic, but does seem to be getting worse. It doesnt always smoke, but it almost always will after boosting. It will usually lessen after normal driving. Somtimes it wont start doing it again, even when boosting. I have HKS exhaust (its an H pipe) and the oil does come out of both sides. mostly equal amounts out of both, and somtimes more out of either side more than the other side. It has done this on 2 seperate motors, so i dont think its piston rings. The first motor was brand new after rebuild, the current one has pretty normal compression of 150 psi give and take. The turbos have been on both motors though. They are hks2530s bought used very little and with very little shaft play. They really should be good, but i dont know... The correct ball bearing turbo oil lines were used with them. The pcv valves and intake manifold have been on both motors also. I am going to remove the pcv system completly to eliminate that possibility. the whole intake and exhaut systems have been on both motors also. There could be residual oil left in them. I have read of a few people that was the issue for. Am i forgetting anything else that could be causing this?

Thanks, Daniel
