I have a question for someone more knowledgeable about how the boost system works in these cars. I know for a fact that the previous owner of my Z unwittingly removed the factory restrictors from the car. This had the effect of making the wastegates "see" the exact manifold pressure, which made them open at 7psi boost. Pretty much did the exact same thing as when the car is put into safety boost mode. In an effort to get it back up to stock while I wait (very impatiently) for an opportunity to acquire a boost controller I put .30 boost jets into the wastegate lines. The car now actually boosts up to 9psi generally speaking, and I saw it hit 10psi once at a WOT test, but just that once. Does this sound right? I kind of thought I would see 12-13psi without factory restrictors and .30 boost jets. My assumption is that the factory restrictors work in tandem with any installed jets, so without the restrictors I should see 2-3ish less psi than your average TT would see with the same size jets. That is just a wild guess, I suck at math so I don't have any idea how else to figure what I should be looking for on my gauge. Also, I got a wideband AF installed, and I noticed that when I come to a stop initially the gauge maxes out at 20, it always goes back down to the standard 14-15ish range, but for that one second it runs ultra rich. This makes me think I have a boost leak, but I can't find any significant ones, just one very small one on the balance tube. Thoughts?
