Message Man I am at a loss. I tried extracting it again, I can't seem to find it anywhere. I also tried turning the crank with a 27mm wrench to see if I had any noise (indicating that the screw is somewhere down there contacting the sprocket) but I heard nothing.

If I'm not hearing it while I'm cranking on the crank itself that would seem to indicate that it's not where I thought it was? I hate to overanalyze a problem this seemingly simple, but I really, really, don't wanna pull the crank pulley, but I want to destroy my timing belt and therefore my engine much less.
