Message After I left work today, I tried starting it. The engine turned maybe one turn and I felt and heard a heavy thud. After that it wouldn't do anything when I tried starting. I let it sit for a few seconds, turned the key again, and then it tried turning over for about 5 seconds before it sputtered for a second and then idle.

It's still producing blue smoke from the exhaust, looks like the passenger side mostly (completely?). I really can't tell if the oil was overfilled, but I suspect not. I bought a 5.25 quart jug, they left just over a quart in the jug.

So based on the smoke, rough idle (feels like 4-5 cylinders) when driven, strange hesitant start, what is the best guess?

If it were a PCV stuck in the closed position, it would smoke, but would it idle rough?

What would cause the engine to abruptly halt starting after sitting a few hours?

How can I check for bad PCVs, rings or seals being the culprit of the oil burning?
