'96.. so it's OBD2. Have you looked at the Four Fuel Trims.. Two Long and Two Short?. best to read them while it 'running thin'.. with a Lap top style of reader and have a friend read them while you are driving... I've tried recording them while driving, and playing them back later.. but for me it just ends up as a bunch of numbers that I can not relate to a action on the Car.. if the fuel trims for the Long, are getting past +15 then SOME sort of fuel issue is at play.. USUALLY long fuel trims want to be Below +- 10, and the Short Fuel Trims want to be 5 or less..
If your Fuel trims are in line, then it's an Ignition Issue.. Could it be pulling timing for a perceived knock?.. you'll be able to see that in the OBD2 read..
