If it's anything I have learned, these things are like a v12 BMW, you need to know what you are doing on a per car basis. I've seen instances where a dent in the oil pan will cause rod knock. So best to be sure he just isn't out for the ton of cash to drop a motor in. If you do buy a motor, buy from someone reputable, get wet and dry compression tests and a start up warranty. Some of those engines are beat to death and the 40k miles thing is usually bull.
