| My car has been on jacks for about a month and a half while I rebuilt the PS pump and had the alternator cleaned. Last night I put everything back together and fired her back up. It was running like total crap, high idle in neutral (3k, but good idle in gear), sounded like it was "dieseling" like a flub, flub, flub as if the motor wasn't working on all 6 cylinders. I went for a short drive to get a feel for it and see shards of molten lava fire out of the driver's side tailpipe. I parked it and went back to collect them. Once I un-fused them from the pavement:
I'm guessing it's precat fiberglass? Would a failed precat cause the car to run absolutely horrible? What replaces a precat, a downpipe? The car has a vicious backfire now. Any info would be of help, I was this close to being in good shape! I shut it off, kicked the tires, and went home in frustration. I'll check codes this weekend.
If I would have known addiction was this expensive I would have seen a shrink a long time ago. --BadZCar (FL) |
