Message	Two things I know of for sure is a speed signal and a signal from the NSS saying the car is in gear. You can simply unplug the NSS and that will ensure it is sending the correct signal. The speed comes from the VSS, to the speedometer I believe and then down to the ECU. A working speedometer does not mean the signal is making it to the ECU.
