Disconnecting the hood switch does the same thing as closing the hood on the switch. I don't think the hood switch is your problem unless your switch harness is shorted somewhere. If you have a digital volt meter with a current reading capability or can borrow one, disconnect the positive terminal from a charged battery, place the RED terminal of the DVM to the positive battery terminal and connect the BLACK terminal of the DVM to the battery cable which was removed from the positive terminal of the battery. The meter will tell you how much current you are drawing from your battery with the ignition in the OFF position. I would expect you to be drawing less than 0.1 ampere. Let us know what you find.
