Message Dealerships are one of the worst ways to go from my experience. They rip everyone off. My girlfriend had her Maxima at the Nissan dealership here for an oil change and they called her saying she need a new MAF and it would cost $500. I checked it out and there was nothing wrong with it. You could buy both rear oem shocks new for less than half that price from Z1. You could almost buy a full set of aftermarket adjustable coilovers for $850. Dust boots are really the only thing you could change when the strut is off, other than springs. The hopping is more than likely the bad strut, but could very possibly be worn out sub frame bushings. Those are a pain in the ass to change.
