Subject	Bubbles in coolant, not a head gasket??

Message	Ok guys... I got a weird one. I posted a couple days ago that my cooling system was not pulling coolant back out of the reservoir, and I had some bubbles showing up in the system, so naturally I am thinking head gasket. So today, I borrowed one of those kits that has the blue fluid that turns yellow when exhaust gasses are present. Guess what? It didn't turn yellow. But, every time the thermostat would open, i would get some bubbles, then not again til the thermostat opens again. How can I be getting air in the cooling system and not leaking coolant at the same spot? This is really weird, and I had been psyching myself up for the last two days to pull the motor and change the head gaskets. Any thoughts are REALLY appreciated.
