| I have a 95 NA, 145K, and I am doing a valve gasket replacement. While everything is out of the way I am replacing the two heater hoses that go from the engine to the heater core. The hoses came off without much trouble. What the hoses left behind on three of the pipes was a residue of hardened hose rubber. Dry it is very hard and your fingernail just bounces off of it. I tried acetone and while it darkened the rag it really did not budge the "cooked on" hose. I don't want to use an abrasive; anyone have any suggestions on something that will cut the old baked on rubber? Or is something like a light Scotch Brite pad ok. Thanks for your ideas in advance.
