Message First off, thanks to everyone who has replied. You guys have provided a ton of information and I really appreciate it.

Today I watched conzult while this happened in order to determine what the timing was doing immediately after the slight "bog", when the motor was picking back up and leveling out. After dropping to 15* when the throttle closed switch went off, the timing was remaining at 15* and it looks like it's the IACV/AAC opening up that was allowing the motor to come back and level out.

I only mention this as a follow up since my original post indicated I thought that the timing might have been advancing again as the motor picked up, and I wanted to make it clear that this is not what was happening. I now believe that the timing changes I was observing are totally normal on a cold motor. I also want to clarify that my issue, and the testing I was doing, involved moving the throttle with my hand just enough to turn the throttle closed switch off. It was really just that slight of a movement and I wouldn't recommend touching the throttle any more than that, if at all, on a cold motor.

After research here, elsewhere on the net, and getting the opinion of a tuner I respect, I believe what I am experiencing (slight bog under very light throttle while coolant temp is < 130* F) is normal for our cars and is a result of the "cold" fuel and timing adjustments (which I do not fully understand, but get the general gist of). It has also been suggested to me that gas with ethanol in it makes this little "bog" even worse than when these cars were new.

So, I'm going to stop worrying about it. I think that it's most likely that I never noticed this before because I never touch the throttle before the car is warm. I just happened to do so during first start up after having installed my fuel rail/injectors. If I start the car and wait until the motor looks warm based on the coolant temp gauge, which I always do before driving, the problem doesn't occur.

I did go ahead and look at my throttle bodies anyway, though. I found that the driver's side was cracking open just slightly before the passenger side (and also before the throttle closed switch was turning off). I don't think what I saw was enough of a problem to actually be an issue, but I went ahead and synched them up anyway using the linkage adjustment screw on the top side of the driver's side throttle body. Both crack open (to the eye) at the same time now, and the throttle closed switch appears to turn off just as they do. So that was probably good to look at anyway, but I don't think it is going to have any noticeable impact.

Thanks again to all who replied. Hopefully this entire thread will be useful to someone else at some point.
Andy
